Martha Ann Lindsey was born in 1840 in Richland County, Ohio, the daughter of John C.W. Lindsey and Hannah Pisal Lindsey. She was deaf/mute. She was married to John B. Williams who was also deaf/mute was the mother of five children, four who lived to adulthood. They four living children were Emma who married John R. Fausett and lived in Vigo County, Alice who married Enoch Mills (nephew of Carrie Nation), and lived in Madison County, S. Charles and William who lied in Madison County. At the age of 62 her son-in-law (Enoch Mills) asked the court for guardianship of her after she'd had a stay at the Richmond Insane Asylum. In September 1902 the guardianship was granted to James J. Netterville. In 1910 Census, Martha was in the Eastern Indiana Hospital for the Insane (Richmond) and in 1915 when she died, she was at Central Indiana Hospital for Insane (Indianapolis).
