Son of David and Elizabeth (Stephenson) Parker of Anderson Co., SC. Husband of Margaret Ann Harper.
1) "Historical Souvenir of Conyers" printed 1906, states that " D.M. Parker was the first depot agent, first merchant and first postmaster known to this town when it humbly was called a station. This good man has done much for Conyers and the surrounding country and still lives near Smyrna church in this, Rockdale County."
2) "A History of Rockdale County" published 1977, pg 5, states "Dr. Conyers was one of the railroad directors, and was very active in its construction. He gave the property for the right of way, and the depot to the railroad. After reserving an acre or so for the depot, the railroad sold the remaining land to Mr. D.M. Parker for $700.00."
3 ) "A History of Rockdale County" published 1977, pg 15, states "The Conyers Post Office was established on March 12, 1846. Early records indicate that Postmaster Parker received $28.96 for the year beginning July 1, 1846. The net proceeds for the same period were only $35.69.
4) David and Margaret had another son, John Parker who married Laura Morgan, family researchers are attempting to locate their burials.
