Mr. "Papa" Charlie Edward Moody, 95, of 379 Linville Creek Road, Vilas, died Thursday afternoon, Dec. 24, 2009, at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born Jan. 26, 1914 in Roan Mountain, Tenn., a son of the late S.F. and Rosa Adams Moody.

Mr. Moody was a retired mail carrier of 42 years and was a carpenter. He was a deacon and choir member of Brushy Fork Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, two grandsons, two granddaughters, and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Minton Moody; one son, Clifton Eugene Moody; one sister, Susie Belle Greer; one brother, S.F. Moody, Jr.; and three half-brothers, Joe, Frank, and Glenn Moody.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon, Dec. 27, 2009, at 2:30 p.m., at Brushy Fork Baptist Church. Officiating was the Rev. Andy McFarland and the Rev. Kenny Newberry. Burial followed in Adams Cemetery.
