According to details of the accident from Urbana, Wise was driving a passenger, Mrs Belle Hamilton, from Springfield to Urbana, when his car was struck by the train at a crossing. Both Wise and his passenger were killed almost instantly. Albert Schafer, conductor on the train, who was riding on the pilot at the time of the accident sustained a broken leg and other injuries.
Wise is survived by his wife and six children, all of whom reside in this city. He went to Urbana some time ago and began the operation of a bus line from Urbana to Springfield. His family had made arrangements to join him in Springfield, where he had prepared a home for them. Mrs Wise had intended to go to Urbana today but on receipt of the telegram she wired for the body to be sent to their home here, where the funeral will be held. Interment will be made in Spring Hill cemetery.
