Jan 9, 1995 - Mass of the Christian burial for William P. Nees of Carroll will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at St. Lawrence Church In Carroll with the Rev. Chris Van Oosbree officiating. Burial will be In Mount Olivet Cemetery In Carroll. Mr. Nees, 89, died Friday evening, Jan. 6, 1995, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Lector for the Mass will be Kenneth Nees. Gift bearers will be Lloyd Nees and Lloyd Miller. Casket bearers will be Larry Nees, David Nees, Doug Brown, Dave Croonquist, Charles Porter, Todd Miller, Chris Miller, Clark Fessler, Patrick Pick and Matthew Aiken. Visitation began at 2:30 p.m. today at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, where rosaries will be recited at 3 and 8:15 p.m. today. A Christian wake service will be at 7:30 tonight by St. Lawrence Parish at the funeral home.

Born April 5, 1905, at Mount Carmel, he was a son of Joseph and Wilhelmina (Kles) Nees. He attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Schools In Mount Carmel. On Sept. 3, 1929, he married Agnes Ortner at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. They farmed in various communities, with their last 20 years of fanning spent south of Glidden. Mr. Nees retired in 1969 and the couple moved to Carroll, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 1979. Upon retiring from farming, Mr. Nees was employed parttime at the former B & H Super Value Store in Carroll for many years. He was a resident of St. Anthony Nursing Home since 1990. Mr. Nees was a member of St. Lawrence Parish and the Parish Men's Club.

Survivors include four children, Lloyd Nees and his wife, Elizabeth, of Coon Rapids, Shirley Fick and her husband, Lee of Seabeck, Wash., Marvel Aiken and her husband, Allan, of Allyn, Wash., and Mary Jane Miller and her husband, Lloyd, of Boone; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two brothers, George Nees and his wife, Eleanor, of Carroll and Leon Nees and his wife, Genevieve, of Tonganoxle, Kan.; six sisters, Anna Henkenius of Massena, Iowa, Dora Olberding of Odebolt, Sister Eloise. FSPA, of LaCrosse, Wis., Mary Daniel of Lidderdale, Julie Rettenmaier of Breda and Leona Donelson of Mesa, Ariz.; and three sisters-inlaw. Angie Nees of Mount Carmel, Amanda Neppl of Halbur and Evelyn Ortner of Vancouver,
Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Agnes, In 1991; three brothers, Carl, Rudolph and Frank Nees; and two sisters, Emma Freese and Margaret Mosman.
