Funeral services for Chester A. Hargrave Sr., 73, of Nampa, who died Friday, March 22, 1991, at a Nampa care center, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at Lakeview Church of the Nazarene, 608 14th Ave. N. The Rev. James Lester, pastor of the church and the Rev. Harold Hampton will officiate. Burial will follow in Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa. Services are under the direction of Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
Mr. Hargrave was born April 22, 1917, at Nampa, where he was reared and graduated from Nampa High School. He attended Idaho State University for a year. He married Catharine Wright Feb. 26, 1940, in Nevada. Following their marriage they made their home in Nampa. Chester worked as a switchman for the Union Pacific Railroad for 38 years. Following his retirement he was involved with various water boards, including serving as president of the Meridian Irrigation District. He was a member of Lakeview Church of the Nazarene.
Chester is survived by his wife, Catharine Hargrave, Nampa; a son and daughter-in-law, Chester A. Jr. and Janet Hargrave, Nampa; two sisters, Rose in Redding, Calif., and Carolyn in Texas; a brother, Dave Hargrave, Kirkland, Wash.; three grandchildren, Twilana Ramos, Nampa, Mark Hargrave Overfield, Pocatello, and Laura Hargrave, Nampa; and three great-grandchildren, Cody, Clay and Kipton, all of Nampa.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Mountain States Tumor Institute, 151 E. Bannock St., Boise 83712-6297; or-flowers may be sent.
