Hugh J. Clifford, 87, passed away January 8th at Navasota, Texas, where funeral services were in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on January 11th. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery there.

He was born Feb. 17, 1881, in Delphi, the son of Michael and Ellen McCallaf Clifford. His marriage was to Magdalene (Lena) McCain of Delphi. He was retired from the El Paso Natural Gas Company.

Mr. Clifford was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, veteran of Spanish-American War and member of V.F.W. Post No. 4006. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus of El Paso and had served previously as state deputy for that organization.

Surviving with the widow are a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ellen Watson of San Antonio; four sons, Richard P. of Sacramento, Calif., Hugh J. Jr. of McAllen, Texas; Robert J. of Phoenix, Arizona, and William M. of San Diego; and one brother, Paul of Chicago.

Other survivors include four cousins, James and Hubert Clifford and Miss Neletta Clifford of Delphi, and Mrs. Josephine Clifford Thieme of Lafayette and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Hazel Coble of Adams Township.
