Lela Virginia Wilson Green was born, raised, and attended school in Roseburg, Oregon. Her parents were Leon Franklin and Bessie Mae Wilson. Her mother died when she was 14 years old. Her siblings were Audrey M., Floyd N., Harry W., and Franklin J. She graduated from Roseburg High School in 1941 with 95 other classmates. She was involved with the following clubs: Home Economics (officer), Camera, Library, Orange "R", Glee (Glee Concert, Operetta, and Gymkhana Production), Knitting, Co-ed Caper, and May Fete. In the Fall of 1941 she moved to Eugene, OR to be a medical receptionist.
On July 21, 1944, Lela married Robert Raymond Green when he was on leave from the U.S. Navy. They moved to Roseburg in 1945 after he was discharged. They had one daughter, Patricia Lee Green-Young, who unfortunately died when she was around 30 years old from health complications.

Bob and Lela were married about 55 years. They enjoyed traveling and volunteering locally. Lela volunteered for many years at the Umpqua Valley Arts Association in Roseburg.
