Born July 21, 1937 in Archer County, Texas to James Charles and Leona(Lovern) Colgan. He and Martha Burcham were married May 2, 1963 in Megargel, Texas. He was currently serving as a Constable for Archer County Precint 3. He was a former custodian, teacher, and oil field driller. He was a member of the Megargel First Baptist Church. He served as a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America and he served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his father James Charles Colgan in 1974.
Survivors include his wife; Martha Colgan of Megargel; four sons; Ben Colgan of Springtown, Texas, Gene Colgan and wife Annette of Houston, Texas, Jack Colgan of Fort Worth, Texas, and Jim Colgan of Megargel; one daughter; Becky Reed and husband Mike of Walters, Oklahoma; his mother; Leona Colgan of Megargel, Texas; one sister; Linda Brock of Seymour, Texas; nine grandchildren; Michelle, D'Tisha, Jake, Patra, Robert, Charlie, Holly, William, and Emily; and three great-grandchildren; Jacy, Shylee, and Madison.
