"Rig" or "Putch" was the middle child of 5 children of Louis Charles Riegert and Anne (Scanlon) Riegert. Brother of Dr. Louis C., Paul W. [aka, Phil], John A. [aka, Shug], and Ann E. [aka, Boops] Nelson. Married for 41 years to Dorothea Joan (Moore) Riegert/Young. Father of 2 sons Paul Theodore and Barbara (deceased) and Victoria Riegert & Theodore Emil and wife Dawn Riegert; 5 grandchildren Christine (Frank) Thomas, Carolyn (Scott) MacNamee, Robert Riegert, Rebecca (Todd) Tarquato, and Thomas Riegert; and 3 great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Nicole and Matthew Thomas.
He grew up in the city of Camden living on Mt. Ephraim Ave. in the Whitman Park section and graduated from Sts. Peter and Paul Grammer School, Camden Catholic High School and attended Drexel University.
Served during World War II with the 8th Army Air Corps as a Westinghouse electric machine gun instructor, at Lowry Field in Denver Colorado, these guns were used on B29's and "Black Widows". After the war he and the family moved from Fairview to Haddon Township in 1950 then to Delaware Township in 1957 the name was changed to Cherry Hill in 1963. Dad worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier. He also worked as a real estate salesperson after retiring from the Postal Service. He was an active member of St. Pius X R.C. Church, Cherry Hill, NJ.
Along with Mom he enjoyed vacationing at the Jersey shore, going on cruises and traveling to many countries around the world. He was a lifelong NY Yankees fan and was a frequent attendee at nearby Garden State Park to enjoy the horse races.
