"Mrs. Barrett, a career first-grade teacher in the Waco Independent School Dist. was born to William Bland and Martha Jo Warren Flynn. Following the death of her parents, Jayne moved to Waco at the age of 14 and resided at the Methodist Home. She graduated from High School in Waco and attended Baylor Univ. She received her Bachelors degree from North TX State Teachers College in Denton, TX. She taught at the Methodist Home and retired after many years of service at Kendrick Elementary.
She was married to William McCoy Barrett, a practicing Waco attorney who preceded her in death in 1981.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Gaylean, and brothers; Warren and Alton Flynn and long-time Waco Barbers, Homa and Bill Flynn.
Mrs. Barrett loved her family, her first graders, her church (Herring Ave. Methodist), her friends and traveling."
She lived her last years at Stillwell Teacher Retirement Center. She was affiliated with many professional organizations.
Survived by one son and one daughter.
