Walter Claud was the eldest son of John Albert and "Jennie"/ Genevieve Vera Boyer (his Mother is better known by her nickname Jennie and used it her entire lifetime). Claud was an unfortunate victim of Diphtheria in 1902.

Walter was survived by his parents, a sister Inez Mamie, a brother Harry DeWitt and extended family.
