Ules P. Bryson, 89, of Brevard, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at Transylvania Regional Hospital in Brevard.

A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Dewitt and Mima Miller Bryson. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Hare, Maybell Waldrop and Myrtle Pollock and his brothers, Leslie and Van Bryson.

He was a member of Cherryfield Baptist Church in Brevard and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II on the U.S.S. Rockwell. He was an avid hunter and especially like bear hunting.

Surviving are his wife, Lucy Tinsley Bryson; daughter, Katherine Bryson, of Brevard; brother, Fred Bryson and wife, Mary, of Brevard; sister-in-law, Dolly Bryson, of Brevard; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Cherryfield Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Thielke officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Pisgah Gardens Mausoleum in Pisgah Forest.

There will be a reception for family and friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday in the church fellowship hall.
