Beatrice Bauer Homemaker, 95
Beatrice Bauer of Callicoon, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, September 14, 2001, at Bethany Village in Bethany, Pa., where she was more recently a resident. She was 95 years of age.
The daughter of the late Frank and Katherine Shuman Simon, she was born June 12, 1906, in Fremont Center. She was the widow of Raymond G. Bauer.
Mrs. Bauer was a member of the Fremont Center Community Church and a member of the Delaware Valley Senior Citizens in Callicoon. A birthday party was held in her honor just this past June at the church hall. She was an avid gardener. She was also a member of the defunct Hortonville Grange. Mrs. Bauer was especially noted for her raised dough coffee cake.
She is survived by several nieces including Verna Hess of Callicoon, Lucille Simon of Cochecton, Vivian Gjurich of Winter Haven, Fla., and Diana Humiston of San Antonio, Tex.; a sister-in-law, Florence Bauer of Hankins; several nephews including Ronald and Jerome Bauer of Hankins, who were very attentive to her while she maintained her home; and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by four brothers, Clarence, Wilbur, Norman and Delbert Bauer, and a sister, Myrtle Bauer.
Friends may call at the Fremont Center Community Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. James O'Rourke officiating.
Burial will be made in the Fremont Center Cemetery in Fremont Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fremont Center Community Church, 547 County Road 94, Mileses, N.Y. 12741 or to the Upper Delaware Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 238, Hankins, N.Y. 12741.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon.
