Funeral was conducted at the First Baptist church with pastor, Rev. Cort Flint officiating. He was assister by Rev. C.R. Love of Big Spring, former Olney minister.
J.R. Pollard, 49, was a longtime area oil field worker. He came to Olney in 1934 to work for the Kerbox and Britton Oil Company from Burkburnett.
On 3 February 1923, he married Miss Clara Eugene Norvell at Burburnett, Texas.
Pollard was in oilfield work until 1948 when he became an employee of the Olney Water company. He was forced to retire a month ago when heart trouble developed.
Surviving are his widow and four children - Bruce Pollard, Mrs. J.W. Martin, Mrs. Lloyd McAnally, Joyce Pollard; four brothers - Dan, John, William Franklin and James W. Pollard; three sisters - Mrs. C.W. Cain, Mrs. R.B. Green, Mrs. A.H. Payne; two half-sisters - Mrs. C.W. Aikins, Mrs. A.F. Williams; one half-brother - J.J. Pollard; six grandchildren.
