From History of Maries Co, MO by Everett M. King: Herod Vaughan, next to the youngest child, married a Murphy, We do not know whether or not she was related to our family of that name, but they lived their entire married life and she died in Illinois, the mother of seven children: Thomas, Margaret, Andrew, John B., Nancy, Robert, and Sarah. Of these only one, John B. (Jack), ever lived in Missouri. He married a Cooper, probably in Missouri, and his son Alfred, lives at Iberia.

After the death of his first wife, Herod Vaughan was married to Nancy E., widow of William McGriff and daughter of William Daniel Boone, a brother of Johnathan, and was by her the father of five children, all yet living, as follows: Marion Vaughan of Ray County; Wilson Vaughan in Kansas City; Alice, widow of W. T. Bodendick, in St. Louis; Amanda, wife of Ben Dodds, in Dixon; and Nancy E., wife of William P. Graham of Washington, Missouri.
