Charles Junior Bolinger, 75, of Pleasant Valley, Mo., (formerly of Madison County) passed away at North Kansas City Hospital on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, with his loving family by his side. Charles was born on July 17, 1935, in Huntsville, the son of Jim and Alice (Johnson) Bolinger. He was the 5th child of 13 children. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, J.L., Art, and Joe, three sisters, Tina, Norma, and Mary.
Charles spent his early years in Madison county, until moving to Nortonville, Kan. Then he served in the United States Army in Germany from Nov. 26, 1956 until Nov. 25, 1959. In January 1960, he started working for General Motors plant in Kansas City, Mo. He retired from the Leeds Company when it closed in October 1985.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Beverly (Carey) Bolinger, for over 50 years; four children, Joann Speiser, Darlene Dumsky, Tammy Ammon and Charles Jay Bolinger; six sisters, Maxine Beal, Vina Kidd, Lorene Bolinger, Lucille Collins, LaVera McFee,, and Polly Majors; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Bolinger and Joyce Bolinger; six grandchildren, Amber, Ashlee, Charlie, Chet, JoAnna, and Cameron; one great-granddaughter, Adalynn and several nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
Charles loved his family dearly. He was an avid reader of western books, loved gardening, potatoes, fried okra and steaks were some of his most favorite foods. He would say "the fat on steaks taste good as candy."
Charles was a very talented man who could do anything he set his mind to. He built their lake house at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. He remodeled every home they lived in. He was very creative and a great mechanic. When he bought a new car you can just count on it being a candy apple red Chevrolet.
He had a great sense of humor and he could tell the best stories and hold your attention and make you laugh, you didn't want him to quit. We are truly going to miss that. He could have been a stand up comedian.
"The time has come for my departure. I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteousness Judge, will award to me that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." - II Timothy 4:6-8.
Graveside and burial services, with full military honors, were held at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Mo. Arrangements were by Lawrence A. Jones and Sons Funeral Chapel.
A time of fellowship, following the services, for friends and family, to honor the good memories of Charles was conducted at Charles and Beverly Bolinger's residence in Pleasant Valley, Mo.
Bolinger reunions, here on earth, will never by the same but we can meet again someday.
