William Wooton was born about 1829 in Perry County, Kentucky. He was the son of Frederick and Nancy Combs Wooton. In 1852, William Wooton married Mary Blevins and they had six children: Rebecca Jane (b. 1852), Frederick (b. 1855), Nancy (b. 1856), John D. (b. 1858), Missouri (b. 1859), William S. (b. 1863). During the Civil War William Wooton served as a a private in Companies A and D, 1st Missouri State Militia Cavalry. After his wife Mary died, William Wooton married Elizabeth Foster and they had a son, Robert Calib (b. 1869), and a daughter, Anna (b. 1872). He and his family migratd to Indian Territory (now Oklahoma) and resided in Tulsa County, Cherokee Nation. William Wooton died on December 28, 1903 and is interred at Ridgelawn Cemetery (north section), just west of Collinsville, Tulsa County, Oklahoma.
