Sarah Jane Oglesby was born on September 17, 1865 in Knox County, TN to Calvin Callaway Oglesby (1844-1928) and Rebecca Adline Oglesby (1842-1900).
At age 16, she married Wilt Mathias "W. M." Perry on January 10, 1882 in Knox County, TN.
At age 50, her husband died of consumption.
It is reported that Sarah fell to the ground when she learned her son, Virgil died when a rock fell on him working as a contractor for ten years with the American Zinc Company on December 29, 1929.
At age 88, Sarah died on May 27, 1954 of cerebral thrombosis as she struggled with arteriosclerosis for about a decade.
