Alvenia "Allie" Riter, 89, of Findlay went to be with her heavenly father at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Sunrise Assisted Living, surrounded by her family. Allie resided at Sunrise of Findlay since 2007. She regarded all of her friends and family as she would a flower garden. Each person, a flower that is to be adored and loved. Her love was, equally, returned by all those in her garden. Allie was born March 5, 1921 in Portage Twp, Wood County, Ohio the daughter of the late Stanley and Ida M. (Black) Patten. She was the widow of Richard "Dick" W. Riter, who preceded her in death June 1, 1990, they were married November 1, 1939, they enjoyed 50 years together. Allie is survived by sons A. Jerry (Jo) Riter of Findlay and Steven W. (Joyce) Riter of McComb OH. There are seven grandchildren Missy Riter-Taylor, Jeffery, Drew, Jeremy, and Craig Riter, Stephanie Rule, and Darin Riter and great-grandchildren Brittany, Makenna, Mason, Findley, Colin, Meg and Todd Riter. She was preceded in death by two brothers Harold and Frank Patten and two sisters Sylvia Helm and an infant. Allie along with Richard were lifelong farmers in Jackson Twp. In addition to being a homemaker she worked several years at the Courier newspaper in the advertising display department. She was a member of the former Riverside Grange and Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 25, 2011, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 26, 2011, with Pastor Mark O. Burden officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery.
