He was born September 17, 1918 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, a son of the last Edward and Minnie (James) Ivy. He was a veteran of World War II. He was survived by his wife Opal (Oldham) Ivy, a son Tom Ivy, two daughters, Melody Gissel and Quentina Mendez, sister Martha Thompson and three grandchildren.
