DeForest – Karl J. Pullen, age 41, died unexpectedly of natural causes at home on Sunday, February 20, 2011. He was born on February 28, 1969 in Sauk Prairie, to Beryl "Pete" and Kathe Pullen. He resided in Sauk City until the family moved to DeForest in 1979. Karl married Romni on September 11, 1999 at Devils Lake. He was most proud of his children Heidi and Levi, and of his step-children, Alison Skaife of NY, Richard Skaife of Iowa and Dani Jo Skaife of DeForest. Karl was a kind and loving son, brother, father, husband, uncle and friend. He would lend a hand to everyone he could. Karl proudly worked for McGann Construction and had previously worked for Burbank Grease Service and Larry Hefty Construction. Karl was a member of Parkside Presbyterian Church, Madison and was a huge Packer fan. Karl was a proud member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 481. Karl will be forever remembered for being a kind, compassionate and generous man and for his love of family, God and country. He always went out of his way to help others before helping himself. He always had our backs. He leaves behind his parents, children, wife, siblings Christina Schaefer, Mark (Helen) Pullen and Eric Pullen. He further leaves behind his much loved nieces and nephews Sara and Keith Schaefer, Jordan, Marcus, Jack, Sierra and Kayla Pullen and Nate; Crystal and Nikki Pullen. He also leaves behind his very close friends and "brothers" Jeff Stanley, Art "Buff" Mulcahy, Steve Schaefer, Chris "Louie" LaMore, Jose Zamora, Scott and Randy Nazer and Tom Ripp; and "sister" Lisa Pullen. He is further survived by his aunts, Patricia Boettcher and Bethel Longo and their families. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Earl and Marge Pullen and his uncles Rosario "Joe" Longo and Leon Boettcher. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest at 7:00 p.m., with Rev. Scott Marrese-Wheeler officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Inurnment will be held in the spring at Garden Bluff Cemetery in West Point, Lodi.
