MRS. WILLIS WAS BORN IN INDIANA
Martha Jane Clinard was born in Farmland, Indiana, November 26, 1859, and passed away at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Millie Meeker, South Haven, May 17, 1930. She was united in marriage January 4, 1876, to Wesley Willis, of Bangor, where they spent the greater part of their married life.
Mr. Willis preceded her in death eighteen years ago. To them were born nine children, six daughters and three sons. The youngest child Frank Leroy, died in infancy, and the oldest, Ida May, passed away in March 1908, at the age of 32 years.
The five daughters are, Cora Michels, Maude Slentz, Millie Meeker, Myrtle Barton and Nora Provost, and two sons, Carl and Willie, and a step-son, Eugene Willis, 37 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends are left to mourn their loss. Mrs. Willis was a devoted Christian and a loving mother. Funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Maude Slentz, with whom she had made her home for several years. Her grandsons acted as pallbearers while the grand daughters carried the flowers, which made a very touching scene. She was laid to rest in Thomas cemetery, Rev. E. A. Ronk, of Detroit, officiating.
