Officer Crawford was born in St. Petersburg and was a graduate of Seminole High School. He began his career with the St. Petersburg Police Department on July 13, 1985. During his tenure with the department, he served in the Patrol Division, where he spent much of his career working on the midnight shift. He was assigned to District II (downtown/north side) on the midnight shift when he was shot and killed in the line of duty. David has several letters of commendation in his file for excellent police work and compassion for the citizens he served.
He is survived by his wife Donna, daughter Amanda, step-daughter Patricia Savoie and grandchildren Tatiana and Anastasia.
Visitation will be Monday, February 28, 2011 from 5-8PM at First Baptist Church, 1900 Gandy Blvd. St. Petersburg, where funeral services will be 11AM Tuesday.
Donations would be appreciated to law enforcement charities or CASA in St. Petersburg.
