Co. E 37 NC Infantry

POW captured in the aftermath of the Battle of Hanover Court House May 1862. Was exchanged 5 August, 1862 and then went on furlough probably in combination due to his just being released as a POW and the fact that his brother was killed in June at Gaines' Mill. While a POW he beat Typhoid fever. His cause of death is unknown, as it is not listed in his service records. A good guess would be that he either had a resurgence of Typhoid, died from complications of it, or possibly died from injuries sustained at Gettysburg.
