Thursday, May 28, 1925Lucinda Ellen Truitt Stephens, daughter of John Reeves and Lucinda Jane Stokes Truitt was born in 1854 in Putnum County, Indiana.
She was united in marriage to George Meek Stephens, the son of William Leonard and Elizabeth J. Beasley Stephens, on March 7, 1888. To this union were born 8 children. Sadie Belvel, Edgar Niles, Flossie Ann, Thomas Macy, Ira Leo, George William Reeves, Charles Otto and infant child.
Siblings: Milford Franklin, Sarah Ann, Thomas Niles, one half brother George Marion Truitt, and two half sisters Mary Elizabeth and infant sister.
Lucinda was united in the Methodist Church when about eighteen years of age. She remained in the faith until 1911 when she consecrated her life to the Lord anew in the assembly of God. A kind and loving mother. She died on May 22, 1925 in a Methodist Hospital at St. Joseph, Missouri at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 2 days. Funeral services were held in Davis city, Iowa on Saturday which were largely attended by friends. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery by her husband George Stephens.
Lucinda went fishing every day if time permitted.
