Jacob Mitchell Custer, 79, son of Jacob P. and Mary E. Custer, born April 10, 1862 in Illinois. He came with his parents to Missouri at the age of two years and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. Ray Darr on April 14, 1941. September 7, 1892 he was married to Luella Rich at Greencastle, MO. To this union one daughter, Mrs. Lottie Darr, was born. He united with the M.E. church at Greencastle in August 1900. He was active in church and civic affairs as long as his health would permit. He leaves to mourn his departure, his widow, Mrs. Luella Custer and daughter, Mrs. W. Ray Darr, three grand-daughters, Lorene, Maureta, and Sue Darr of the home. Two brothers, Charlie of Memphis, MO, and Frank Custer of Greencastle, one sister, Mrs. Clara Bell of Kansas City, MO. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, April 16, at 3:00 pm in the Hopedale Church by Rev. Clark of Springfield with burial in the Hopedale cemetery under direction of the Chaffin Funeral Home of Ozark.
