George William Reeves Stephens, the son of George Meek and Lucinda Ellen Truitt Stephens, made his home in Garden Grove, Iowa.
His siblings were: Sadie Belvel Stephens Jones, Thomas Macy, Ira Leo, Charles Otto, Flossie Ann, and Edgar Niles.
He passed away at the Veterans Adminstration Hospital on June 29, 1963 in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 65 years 5 months and 29 days.
"Ree" as he was known to his friends grew to manhood on a farm south of Leon, Iowa. He became associated with the bakery business and through the years worked at Humeston, Des Moines, Leon, Garden Grove, and Chariton Iowa. He was called to World War II (Tec. 4 308th Signal Company Wing) and served as a baker stationed in Tampa Florida.
Funeral services were held by the Rev. George Lamb at Stewart Funeral Home on July 2, 1963 at 2:00 P.M.
Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery, Decatur, County, Iowa
