Sinclair Edwin Newman was born two miles south of Leon, Iowa February 6, 1859 and departed this life at his home one mile south of Leon, Iowa on October 29, 1935 at the age of 76 years, 8 months, and 23 days.

He was united in marriage to Euphemia McCord in 1887. They moved to his home in Caledonia, Iowa where they lived for twenty years. They then went to California for one year returning to live on a farm at Clearfield, Iowa for five years. Later they moved to his farm south of Leon, Iowa where he has lived for the past 15 years.

He leaves to mourn his wife, one sister, Mattie Newman Thorne of Oakland, California, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Friday at 2:30 P. M. at the Stewart Funeral home by Reverend William McRoberts.

Interment was in Bethel Cemetery southeast of Leon, Iowa.

Cause of death: arterial Sclerosis (hardening of the arteries)
