Frank J. Sanoica, of Chesterton, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 at his residence. He was 76.
He was born July 20, 1928 in Chicago, the son of Joseph and Olga (Zlocinska) Sanoica, both of whom preceded him in death.
On Aug. 26, 1950 in Chicago he married Barbara Satmary, who preceded him in death June 8, 2000.
He is survived by a son, Frank P. (Terry) Sanoica of Rolling Meadows, Ill.; three daughters, Mary Anne (Fred) Fifarek of Westchester, Ohio, Rose (Robert) Norkus of Manhattan, Ill. and Rita Mae (Michael) Nackovic of Chesterton; a sister, Dolores (Robert) Sutherland of Mount Verde, Fla.; grandchildren, Aaron and Jeremy Fifarek, Lara and Janet Sanoica, Ken and Kathy Norkus, Vera (Alec) Miller, Dave Nackovic, Larry (Michelle) and Christina Pinson and two great-grandchildren, Kimberly and Miranda Pinson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Grace Marie and Larry Pinson of Burbank, Ill.; a brother, Walter J. Sanoica and a sister, Albina Olszowka.
He was a local resident for six years and was employed as a mechanical engineer at Dana Corp., Victor Division. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Frank was past president for many years at Five Holy Martyrs Church Choir. He was an avid bowler and golfer and former member of St. Patrick Church Choir. He served in the U.S. Air Force and loved flying his model airplanes.
A Mass of Christian Burial, Fr. James Meade officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, Ill.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. with Rosary at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.
Memorials may be made to V.N.A. Hospice of Porter County.
