Betty Jean Thompson passed away peacefully at her home in Biloxi, Ms., after a courageous battle with cancer. Betty was born on May 20, 1962 to Robert and Viola Thompson. She was raised in Gulfport and attended Harrison Central High and American Beauty College. She was lasted employed at Island View Casino until her health deteriorated. She was a member of Christian Worship Ministries, ministered by Cora Walker. She enjoyed being with her family, having fun with friends and was an avid baseball player.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Sam and Mary Hatten, paternal grandparents, Ben and Leona Thompson; her father, Robert C. Thompson; and three nephews, Robert D. Thompson, Donald Hawthorne, and Devonta Robertson.
Betty will forever be remembered by her beloved children, Shedrick Thompson, LaKeisha Thompson, Laura Thompson, Betty (Christopher) Clayton, Corissa Thompson, Fredrick Thompson, Sentoria Thompson and Dedrick Thompson; a loving mother, Viola Thompson; nine devoted siblings: Robert Thompson, Annie Johnson, Mary Graves, Pastor Cora (Melvin) Walker, Vera (Grover) Fairley, Curtis Thompson, Judy (Bobby) Thompson, Martha (Reginald) Jefferson and Leslie (Bobby) Thompson; eight treasured Grandchildren: Shedreca, Christianna, Christopher, Chrishawn, Chrishaud, Ta'niya, Zy'Kevion and Chris'Syaah; long time friends, Bobbie Mingo, Sandra Corley, Kim Martin and Effie Osborne; along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her.
The family would like to thank Rev. Ken Braxton, pastor of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church and the officers and members of Christian Worship Ministries for the spiritual guidance provided to our family durng this most difficult time, and a special thanks to the 4th floor staff members at Memorial Hospital.
