Magee Police Chief Rickey Davidson passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, after a suspected heart attack. Davidson was 61.
Mayor Jimmy Clyde said an emergency call was placed about 6:30 p.m. that afternoon. Efforts were unsuccessful to revive Davidson on the scene.
"He was a very faithful and loyal servant for the City of Magee," Clyde said. "He will be missed."
On Friday, the chief said he was suffering from stiffness and discomfort in his left side. He said he had been lifting boxes and organizing the department's evidence lockup.
There are no plans to name an interim police chief, he said.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday at Tutor Funeral Home. The funeral will begin Tuesday at 11 a.m. with a memorial procession downtown to Magee City Cemetery.

I AM A WARRIOR
I fight not for glory or fame,
For they are momentary.
I fight for those who can't.
I fight for Justice.
I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden.
And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets,
For I serve to protect the innocent.
It matters not where or when,
For evil knows no boundaries.
Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny,
I will not flee.
Justice is my weapon.
Faith is my shield.
Hope is my armor.
Cry not at my passing,
For it was my Honor to fight for you.
Shed not tears of sorrow,
But tears of joy,
For now,
I stand with God.
