Our beloved husband, father, brother, gramps, uncle, and friend to all passed away at his home in Tabiona, UT of heart failure on February 17, 2011.

Born to Thomas M. and Martha B. Giles on September 17, 1927 in Hanna, Utah, the youngest of twelve children. Don married his sweetheart, Alfreda Ivie, on September 16, 1946, which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Don was a big influence in all of his grandkids lives, especially his grandson Chad. They spent a lot of time together when Chad was younger. Chad followed his grandpa almost everywhere. They especially enjoyed going fishing and hunting.

Don worked hard his whole life, primarily as a grader operator in the asphalt industry. After he retired he still enjoyed working "just for fun." If anyone ever needed any help with anything, they knew they could always call on "Uncle Don." He was also a BIG fan of the Tabiona Tigers, Lady Tigers & Utah Jazz Basketball teams.

Don is survived by his wife of sixty-four years Alfreda, Tabiona; daughters Lorna, Dalene (Bill) Bacus, Jana Lee, all of Salt Lake; Patti (Craig) Olson, Oak Harbor, WA; grandkids Madison and Harley, Tabiona; brother Kent (Joyce) Giles, St. George; nineteen grand-kids; thirty-three great-grand-kids; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, four brothers, three children Don 1971, Karen 1991, Connie 2003, a great-grandson Andres 2007, and a son-in-law Donny 2010.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. in the Tabiona LDS Church, Tabiona, Utah. Viewings will be held on Monday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 North Main Street, Heber City, and Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the services at the LDS Church.
Interment will follow the services in the Tabiona Cemetery.
