Sergeant Dennis Eugene Edge, casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service, SGT Edge served our country until December 11th, 1968 in Hua Nghia, South Vietnam. He was 20 years old and was married. Dennis died from small arms fire. His body was recovered. Dennis was born on January 26th, 1948 in Rainier, Oregon. SGT Edge is on panel 36W, line 001 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.
Dennis went to school with my brother, but I knew him from wrestling. I was a cheerleader for the wrestling team. He was an excellent wrestler. He went to State his senior year. I remember him being very focused and always pleasant to be around. I always remember him having a big smile. He will always be missed. Karen Keith Waddell.

I will never forget: May God Bless You Dennis for your courage and honor and for giving your all for us all. I am truly ashamed of myself for not being able to go to the wall and visit you. I have not been able to visit you at the Portland, OR Memorial. Even though I served in the Air Force from 1972 to 1974 I have not been able to forgive myself. I pray to God that talking to you Dennis will at least give me closure for my disgrace. I remember the day that the town of Rainier became aware that you will never come home. I cried knowing that you gave your life to help protect mine. I remember you even though I was six years younger. I have talked to Carl Ferguson over the years. I want you to know that I will never forget you. I was injured at Kadena Air Force Base. But I would give all that I could to have taken your place. Thank you for your service and bravery.
