DUNCAN — Fern Teague Mihesuah was born March 30, 1928, near Empire in Stephens County and passed away Feb. 17, 2011 in Oklahoma City.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011 at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating, internment will be at the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Fern was the daughter of Martha E. McMurtry Teague and Troy Lee Teague. Fern attended Empire and Duncan schools until her marriage to Henry E. Mihesuah on January 19, 1946. Henry preceded Fern in death on Nov. 9, 2010, they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in January.

In 1955 Fern and Henry relocated to California Bay area where they lived in El Sobrante, Calif., until Henry was injured in an auto accident and they returned home to Duncan in 1972.

Fern retired from Duncan Regional Hospital Accounting Department, then volunteered at the Duncan Regional Hospital for seven more years until poor health forced her to go on the inactive list.

Fern and Henry were the loving parents of three children, Cynthia Lee Mihesuah who preceded her in death; Martha Adele Mihesuah of Duncan; and Joshua Kim Mihesuah of Baldwin City, Kansas. Fern is also survived by a daughter-in-law Devon Abbott Mihesuah; two grandchildren; Toshaway Mihesuah and Ariana Mihesuah all of Baldwin City, Kansas; a brother Archie Lee Teague and sister-in-law Patsy Teague of Duncan; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Terry Teague, James Brown, Ray Raper, Darin Paddyaker, Leonard Eschiti and Jason Barnard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Harlan Jantz, Dan Williams, R.B. Moore and Loui Capshaw.

In Lieu of Flowers the family suggests a donation to the Henry and Fern Mihesuah Memorial Fund at the First Bank and Trust, Duncan, Oklahoma.
