MARJORIE MAE SPICKLER VICKERS, age 80, died July 1, 2002, at a local hospital in Houston, Texas. She was born September 1, 1921, it Topeka, Kansas, to John Carl and Mabel Johnson Spickler. Following her father's death in 1926, she and her mother moved to Sweeny, Texas. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her mother Mabel Johnson Roberts Powell, and her husband Thomas Elwin Vickers. She is survived by her four children: son, Francis Johann (John) Richers, of Sweeny; daughter, Charlotte Elise Richers Sterling of Pineville, Louisiana; daughter Janette Eileene Richers Zackary of Houston; son Stephen Bartz Richers of Freeport; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. A graduate of Baylor University of Nursing and the University of Texas School of Nursing, Mrs. Vickers practiced her profession for many years and was retired from the Harris County Sheriff's Department, where she last worked as a nurse in the County Medical Department. Mrs. Vickers donated her body to Baylor College of Medicine.
