Emma Marie Poirot, age 96, of Hurst, Texas, died peacefully on August 23, 2003 in Hurst, Texas. Born in String Prairie, Texas to J. B. and Lottie Frerich, Emma was a long-time resident of Scotland, Texas.

She and her husband Edmund raised their family in Scotland and worked as farmers and ranchers.

Edmund preceded her in death in 1972 as did her son-in-law James Hood Churchman, five brothers Bill, Charlie, Felix, Bud and Herman and sister Valera Campbell.

After finishing all grades of school in Scotland, she enrolled and in 1925 graduated from Incarnate Word Academy and College in San Antonio, Texas. She returned to the North Texas area and worked as a secretary in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Emma and Edmund married in Scotland, Texas on February 10, 1929. They had five children. Emma was active for years in Scotland's St. Boniface Catholic Church. She was a member of the Altar Society and Christian Mothers Society.

After Edmund's death, Emma moved to Hurst, Texas to live with her daughter, Valera Churchman, and Valera's three children.

Emma is survived by two daughters, three sons, and their families: Valera Churchman of Hurst; Eugene Poirot and his wife Pat of Baytown, Texas; Bob Poirot and his wife Joy of Evergreen Colorado; Edna Anderle and her husband Charles of Arlington,Texas; and Jim Poirot and his wife Peggy of Denton, Texas. Emma has 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Father Phil Johnson, Pastor of St. Michaels Church in Bedford will concelebrate the Mass.
Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery. Mrs. Poirot's grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
