Obituary

Roy Otto Strober, third child of Adam and Matilda Stroeber, was born on a farm near Fonda, Iowa, February 12, 1887. In March of that year his parents moved to Guthrie County settling on a farm north of Casey near the Old Stage Town of Dalmanutha. It was here he made his schooling and grew to manhood. In March 1891 the Stroeber family came to the large farm near Waukee. Here the three sons established their homes. On February 21, 1927 Roy was married to Mary Etta Albee at Adel. One daughter was born to this union. Mrs. Mary Albee Stroeber passed away May 27, 1929 after a lingering illness. On March 4th 1934 he was married to Marie Hoskins at Blue Earth, Minn.. He continued to live on the family homestead.
On the afternoon of July 9, 1948 he was severely crushed beneath the wheels of his tractor while working in the harvest field. He was taken to the Methodist hospital in Des Moines where everything possible was done to aid his recovery. High hopes had been held the last few days for he seemed to be winning the battle slowly, when on the evening of July 23rd the word came suddenly that he was gone. His age was sixty-one years and five months.
He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife, Marie, his daughter Clara and two grandchildren, Sharon and Judy. Also one sister, Mrs. Dora Benedict of Casey and the two brothers, Louie and Hallie of Adel. Beside many other relatives and a host of friends.
Burial was in the Waukee Cemetery.
