Johann Christian Frickhöffer, son of Johann Wilhelm Frickhöffer and Maria Elisabeth Groß, was born 20 June 1758 in Mensfelden, Hessen, Germany. He immigrated to Pennsylvania in the latter part of 1772 with his two brothers, Johannes and Johann Jost, on the ship "Hope" from Rotterdam by way of Cowes. Christian was 14 years of age. He was indentured to Edward Shippen.

Christian married Mary Whitehill, a Scots-Irish young lady, daughter of John Whitehill, probably in 1779 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lancaster, Pennsyvlania.

Christian entered the Alms House of Berks County on 30 October 1825, age about 70 years. He was listed as from Tulpehocken. He died there 3 January 1826 and was buried in the Almshouse Cemetery.

Christian Freehafer and Mary Whitehill had nine known children: William Freehafer died young, Johan Georg Freehafer died young, Rebecca Freehafer married John Bressler, John Freehafer married Maria Elisabeth Huebner, Christian Freehafer married Elisabeth Schaeffer, Michael Freehafer married1) Catharina Hummel, married2) Elisabeth Dengler, married3) Mrs Elisabeth Kaerchner, Elisabeth Freehafer, Maria Freehafer married Peter Neumann and Maria Margaretha Freehafer died age 11 years.
