Clarence Fitch, 91, retired farmer, died Thursday. Visitation 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Grace Manor Funeral Home, Poteau; service 10 a.m. Monday, Springhill Baptist Church; and graveside service 2 p.m. Monday, Pierce Cemetery, Checotah.

Clarence Fitch, 91, of Howe, passed away February 17, 2011, in Howe. He was born August 8, 1919, at Checotah. He was a retired farmer and proud of 48 cotton crops. Clarence was a member of the Springhill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Lula (Hambrick) Fitch; his first wife and mother of his children Helen Pearl Fitch; six brothers; five sisters and one half sister.
Clarence is survived by his wife Lavada Fitch of the home; a son Larry and wife Linda Fitch of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Dana and husband Walter Dumont of Howe; four step-sons, Alton Walker of San Diego, Calif., Greg Walker of Las Vegas, Nev., Henry Walker of Springerville, Ariz., and Chris Walker of Casa Grande, Ariz.; five grandchildren, David and wife Carol Fitch of Ohio, Brent and wife Anita Fitch of Italy, Melody and husband Joe Eddington of Tulsa, Dustin Dumont and Holly and husband Warren Shook all of Georgia; seven great grandchildren; a half brother Charles Ed and wife Mildred Fitch of Oklahoma City; four half sisters, Wilma and husband Marvin McGowan and Nancy and husband George Prater all of Oklahoma City, Rena Mae and husband Don Hall of Texas and Pat Jacobs of Checotah; numerous other relatives, friends and loved ones.
Funeral service will be conducted February 21 at 10 a.m. at Springhill Baptist Church, Howe, with Pastor Bryan Vandever officiating. Interment will follow at Pierce Cemetery, Checotah. Pallbearers will be Richard Stacy, Don Shrum, Larry Lontz, Jim Thacker, Jody Cooper, Glenn Todd. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Acker, Hugh Gardenhire, Gale Enger, H.L. Coor and Phillip Turnipseed. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home and the family will be present to greet friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. There will be no visitation on Saturday. Grace Manor Funeral Home, Poteau, is in charge of arrangements.
