He was born July 2, 1935, in Overton County, to the late Jack and Ida (Brown) Ray.
Mr. Ray was a charter member of Algood Circle Drive Freewill Baptist Church since 1962, and an ordained deacon since 1973. He was a school bus driver, farmer and master carpenter.
His family includes his wife of 49 years, Lula Mae (Bilbrey) Ray of Rickman; 3 sons and a daughter in law, Terry and Shelia Ray of Charleston, SC, Tony Ray of Rickman, Tommy Ray and his fiancee Missy Wright of Livingston; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Tim Schebel of Rickman; a brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Faye Ray of Rickman; a sister, Beulah White of Rickman, five grandchildren, Joshua Ray and wife Jessica of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Nikki Ray, Justin Schebel and Colby Ray, all of Rickman, and Kari Seay and husband Tyler of Charleston, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ray was preceded in death by a sister, Dovie Mae Ray.
