Harlan Amos Carl was born in What Cheer, Iowa, July 18, 1875 and passed away Wednesday evening, January 10, 1945 at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 23 days.

When a boy of eleven, he moved with his parents to Hand county, he has made his home continuously, except for a few years when he worked for the Standard Oil Company in Seattle, Wash.

In 1927 he was united in marriage to Julia Purrington of St. Lawrence and for many years they farmed in Hiland and Pearl townships until failing health forced him to retire in 1940, when the family moved to Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harry and Reuben, a sister Estella and three baby daughters. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, his son, Jack and daughter, Helen, also two brothers, Isaac and Gilbert and a sister, Mrs. Emma Jones, all of St. Lawrence.
