George Reuben Watt was the son of Reuben Watt (Ireland) and Sarah Elmer (Canada). He enlisted as a private February 27, 1864, and was mustered into Company D, 100th Pennsylvania Infantry. He was mustered out July 24, 1865. After the war he headed west. He appears as an unmarried carpenter living at Silver City, New Mexico, with his younger brother Samuel E. Watt in 1880 (1880 US Census). George and his brother Samuel had moved to Tombstone, Arizona, by 1882. George appears on the 1886 membership roster of Burnside Post, Grand Army of the Republic, at Tombstone, Arizona, the same year he married Jennie I. Benchoff. George filed for a Civil War veteran's pension at Nogales September 26, 1898, and received application No. 1,210,111 and certificate No. 1,165,009. He was a carpenter living in Nogales with his family in 1900 (1900 US Census) and he was a millwright in 1910 (1910 US Census). He was still living in Nogales in 1920 at 649 Morley Avenue (1920 US Census). Jennie filed for a widow's pension April 15, 1925, and received application No. 1,231,813 and certificate No. 963,988.
