Richard Kermit Anderson, 62, of 1562 Oak Park Drive, died Monday, May 23, 2005 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana following a 31 year battle with heart disease. Born December 29, 1942 in Owensboro, a son of the late Paul Anderson Sr. and Louise Coomes Anderson Richardson, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Paul Anderson, Jr. in 1993.

A 1960 graduate of Owensboro High School, where he lettered in football, baseball and basketball, he was a recipient of a football scholarship to the University of Kentucky but elected instead to accept an offer to play in the former Milwaukee Braves Minor League System. While at Kentucky Wesleyan College, from which he received a degree in Business Administration, he was an assistant baseball coach, and later coached baseball for many years for the Western Little League, and the 13 year old Babe Ruth League.

Mr. Anderson was an accountant for Hocker Developments, Inc. and David Hocker and Associates until his retirement and for 44 years owned and operated Christmas tree sales in the Owensboro area, primarily at Wesleyan Park Plaza. A member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, he was an avid golfer and a member of the Owensboro Country Club where he enjoyed the �Table of Wisdom� lunch group. He enjoyed time spent with his family and his dogs and watching all sports on television.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jane Hocker Anderson; three sons, Keith Anderson and his wife Stacy, Kurt Anderson and Christie all of Owensboro, and Kevin Anderson and his wife Beverly of Lexington; five grandchildren, Chelsea Anderson, Zachary Anderson and Jacob Anderson all of Owensboro, Ben Anderson and Brian Anderson of Lexington; his stepmother, Trelva Anderson of Owensboro; aunts, Patsy Coomes Gerard of Bowling Green, Marjorie Coomes Fritschel and an uncle Jimmy Coomes both of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl; Juanita Strobel of Owensboro and Marie Jones of Al.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Todd Love and the Rev. Dr. Glen Sowards. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, with no visitation Thursday. Entombment will be in Christ Chapel Mausoleum at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
