Clifford Orval Nutter, 42, of Macfarlan, died at 4 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg, without regaining consciousness after being struck on the head April 2 by the limb of a tree. He was cutting timber with fellow workers on Island Run and suffered a fracture at the base of the skull. Survivors are his wife, Virginia Hutchinson Nutter; one son, Clifford Eugene; and two daughters, Dorothy Lee and Lola Josephine, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. (Bill) Nutter, Belpre, Ohio; seven brothers, George of Rt. 3, Elizabeth; Wesley, Belpre, O., Dale and Russell of Little Hocking, O., Donald of Michigan, Orda of Vienna, and Woodrow Nutter of Walker; five sisters, Mrs. Gladys Riddle, Akron, O., Miss Pauline Nutter, Belpre, Mrs. J.A. Kidder, Porterfield, Mrs. Mary Dell Watson, Belpre, and Mrs. Charity Ash, Rt. 2, Elizabeth. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Cisco Methodist Church on Rt. 47, the Rev. Carl Nutter of Parkersburg officiating. Burial was in the Nutter Cemetery. Six of the brothers acted as pallbearers.
