Rodney Harris Babe, 84, Sinking Valley, died Mon., Feb. 14, 2011 at Epworth Manor, Tyrone. He was born in Chester to James S. & Mima (Grider) Babe. He married C. Jane Hess on June 7, 1946, in Boothwyn and she died Jan. 25, 2000. Survived by daughters: Jane E. of Wilmington, DE and Nancy J. of Herndon, VA; sons: Rodney H., Jr. and wife, Sharyn, of Plantation, FL and D. Robert & wife, Christine, of Sinking Valley; 3 granddaughters; 5 gr. grandchildren and sister, Erma I. Tyson & husband, William, of Boothwyn. Predeceased by brothers: Kenneth S., Ross, Nelson G., Paul J., Stanley J. and Carl R. U.S. Navy, WWII veteran. He was a V-12 cadet at the Univ. of Pennsylvania; Ursinus College and Villanova Univ.. He retired in 1973 from Sun Oil Co. in Marcus Hook, Delaware Co. as a mechanical technician after 21 years of service. Since retirement, he had been a self-employed farmer in Sinking Valley. Member, Sinking Valley Presbyterian Church; Blair County Farmers Assn. and F.&A.M., Concord Lodge 625, Concordville, PA. Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone. Veteran's honors will be accorded by the Tyrone Honor Guard. Interment, Arch Spring Cemetery.
