William David Ford was son of John Ford Jr (1831--1913) and Rebecca Hedrick. His grandparents were John Ford, born about 1802 Kentucky, and Delilah Tevis. Both John and John Jr, along with their wives, were last seen in Dade county Missouri in the 1860 census. John Jr and Rebecca may have been killed during the civil war, and John Sr may have been the Parson Ford who died in Cedar county Missouri in 1869.

William was the son of John Ford Jr and Rebecca Hedrick. They both disappeared before 1870, likely a result of the civil war. There is a provost marshal record of Rebecca asking for help since John had been on a scout for months and she had no pay and no way to feed their 6 children. Their daughter Virginia eventually was raised by her Aunt Susan, wife of John's brother Thomas.

*William's 2 known sisters who did survive the war: Virginia (Ford) Wilson, #85063021 and Eliza Emeline (Ford) Hagerman, #96120536. Courtesy of June Ford (47613047).
