Harold Richard "Dick" Abbott, 66, of 15091 Vans Road, Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA.
Dick was born January 29, 1940 in Clinton, IA to Harold R. and Gertrude (Kooi) Abbott, Sr. He attended Fulton, IL and Clinton, IA grade schools and was a Clinton High School graduate. He married Karen C. Ketelsen on January 2, 1960 in Clinton, IA. Dick owned and operated Tom's Pastry in Clinton from 1965 to 1971 and Cottage Pastry in Fulton, IL from 1971 to 2002. He was employed by Sweetheart Bakery in Clinton from 2002 to the present. A giver at heart, Dick enjoyed sharing his gift of baking by contributing baked goods throughout the community during his career and was also involved in the Community Christmas Dinner in Fulton. He was a member of York Community Church in Thomson, IL. Dick enjoyed his family, woodworking, fishing, nature, and the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; two daughters, Dixie (Mrs. Bob) Shaff and Connie (Mrs. Scott) Hoffman both of Fulton; two sons, Roy (Kim) Abbott of Fulton and Ron (Claudette) Abbott of Thomson; thirteen grandchildren; four sisters, Jane (Mrs. Dwight) Webber of Fulton, IL, Mrs. Nancy Proulx of Florida, Mrs. Barbara Krick of Camanche, IA and Mrs. Pauline Wiersema of Fulton, IL; two brothers, Bruce (Candy) Abbott of Clinton, IA and Art Abbott of California.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, David Shaff; one sister, Betty Hancock, and one brother, Robert Abbott.

VISITATION: 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm – Friday November 10, 2006 at the Church of the Open Door – Clinton, IA
INTERMENT: Fulton Township Cemetery - Fulton, IL
