Oscar Morchs'birth name was Oskar Kristoffersen in Norway and he changed on arrival to USA, taking the Norway farm name of "Morch".

Parents: Hagbarth Christopherson (son of Christopher Ellenson & Marthe Hansdatter)and Gustava Helene F.Pederson.

His brothers were: Christoffer, Mozart, Asbjorn (Ben), and sister were: Ragnhild, Helene, Astrid, Karen, and Eli(pronounced a-lee). His brother Ben as well as sister Ragnhild came to America, as well as an Uncle George to Alpina, Michigan. He and Mozart were in a Band in Norway, Oscar being a fiddle player, and spoons.

Oscar first departed Norway April 19, 1907 and arrived New York, Ellis Island 2 May 1907 on the Ship Oscar II.

His emigration was: Ellis Island,N.Y. to N.D.,-RR Cresco - RR.St.Olaf, Iowa. The Larimore N.D. Farm was 3 miles west & 3 miles sought of Hamilton, 2 miles south & 5 miles east of Cavalier,N.D.

He was married 27 Oct. 1913 to Cora Elizabeth Shepperd. Monona,Clayton Co., Iowa, United States at the Monona Evangelical Parsonage by Rev. Glacier of U. B. Evangelical Church - E.U.B. Evangelical United Brethren. They Began married life near Hamilton, S. Dak - for 4 years - farm near Cresco, Ia for 24 years -then on farm s/e of Luana, Ia...for 23 years.

His daughter Clara Gustava Morch-White would listen to him play the Fiddle at differing times, town and farm. "Pa" taught this to grandaughter Yvonne Elva White(her ashes will be sprinkled on top of his and wife Cora's graves).

During the times the grandchildren were visiting he would take them to "Bennie dog ??? serpentine?(in Norweigan)which meant to Farmersburg to get ice cream, and watch the bands play. He used to stand on his hands,and grandson Arlis Glen White took this up, walked that way.

Oscar died in the hospital at Prairie du Chien,Crawford Co.,Wis.

Norway Lutheran Church RR. St. Olaf, Clayton Co., Iowa. Pastor Lawrence Gross officiated. Burial in Gooding Cemetery, Wagner Twp. Pallbearers: Perry Benson, Henry Muelller, Vernis Henkes, Glen Kurth, Donald Henning & Donald Sass.
