ANDREW SIMPSON PASSED AWAY AT ALEXANDRIA

Funeral services were held September 15 for Andrew J. Simpson of near Alexandria who passed away Sunday, Aug. 10, 1941 at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 24 days.

Rev. William E. Braisted, associate pastor of the Fairbury Baptist church, conducted the service from the Alexandria Baptist church, and burial was in the Alexandria cemetary.

Born in Hardin county, Iowa, March 16, 1861, Andrew James Simpson, son of J. C. and Martha Simpson, moved to Beloit, Kans. with his parents while yet a small boy. He homesteaded near Beloit in 1883 and married Huldah A. Chapin April 19, 1885. Eight children were born to them, three of whom, James, Darling and Clyde, died in infancy.

Mr. Simpson united with the Beloit Baptist church when a young man and later transferred his membership to the Oberlin, Kansas Baptist church. On March 23, 1923, he became a member of the Alexandria Baptist church and served as deacon in that church for several years.

Surviving are his wife and five children, Jesse of West Fork, Ark., Leroy of Omaha, Irvin of near Alexandria, Mrs. Eva Powell of near Alexandria and Fayetta of York; 11 grandchildren and six great granchildren.

"Death of Andrew J. Simpson
Andrew J. Simpson, born March 16, 1861, to J. C. and Martha Simpson in Hardin County, Iowa. When a small boy he, with his parents, moved to Beloit Kans., and to Oberlin, Kans. when a young man. he homesteaded at Oberlin in 1883.
He was united in marriage to Huldah A. Chapin on April 19, 1885; To this union were born eight children, three of whom, James, Darling and Clyde, died in infancy. The living children are Jesse A. of West Fork, Arkansas; Irvin, at home; Roy, of Omaha; Eva (Mrs. John Powell) of Powell; and Fayetta of York. There were twelve grandchildren, one of whom died in infacy. There were six great grandchildren. He had four sisters and six brothers all of whom have preceeded him in death.
He joined the Beloit Baptist Church while a young man; later his membership to Oberlin, Kans. in March, 1923 he joined the Alexandria Baptist church, where he was a Deacon for many years.
He passed away at his home east of Alexandria, August 10, 1941 having been in failing health for somet time.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. H. Sanderson at the Baptist church and burial made in Alexandria cemetery, Monday afternoon.
